Provost FAQs re: QEP, HEED award, TCU Global, Annual Reports

Dear Academic Affairs colleagues,

I hope you are enjoying this wonderful fall weather. It is a busy time of year, so I want to remind you of upcoming opportunities and thank you for your award-winning work in inclusive excellence.

TCU’s QEP: Finding Ourselves in Community

An integral part of TCU’s SACSCOC reaccreditation is a five-year Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). Finding Ourselves in Community is a curricular focus on self-awareness to help students develop skills for interacting with people who are different from them. Finding Ourselves in Community will amplify the curricular work already happening on campus to reach students from every major.

I encourage faculty who are interested in revising your courses to support Finding Ourselves in Community to apply for the first professional development cohort taking place in Spring 2023. A $2,000 stipend will be provided. Applications and more information are available here: provost.tcu.edu/sacscoc/qep.

Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award

Congratulations to the people who work so diligently to weave diversity and inclusion into the fabric of our university.  Thanks to you and everyone who supports these programs, TCU has been awarded the HEED Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine for the fifth year in a row.

The award singles out several initiatives: a new speaker series for Neeley School of Business students hosted by the Office of Inclusive Excellence, the Inclusive Excellence Research Grant program, Frogs First Affinity Group Gatherings, the Faculty Hiring Checklist, and for infusing diversity and inclusion into all aspects of TCU to support the mission and success of the university through Inclusive Excellence in Academic Affairs.

TCU Global

You may have seen the news in TCU Today that the Center for International Studies has a new name, TCU Global. The change reflects the broader mission of serving our students to become exceptional global citizens, both domestically and abroad. For more information, visit tcuglobal.tcu.edu.

Faculty Annual Reports

It is time for regular full-time faculty (excluding visiting lecturers) to submit annual reports to be used to formulate recommendations for merit salary adjustments. Deadline to submit is January 17, 2023. Steps are outlined here Faculty Resources – Faculty Annual Reports on my website.

Diversity Day is Thursday

I encourage you to participate in one or more of the impressive virtual sessions being offered this Thursday, October 27, for TCU’s annual Diversity Day Conference. You can register here: calendar.tcu.edu/event/diversity_day_conference_2022.

Have a great rest of your week and Go Frogs!
