Dear Faculty,
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Dr. Reuben Burch, TCU’s new Vice Provost for Research, and invite you to informal coffee chats with him around campus.
Dr. Burch comes to us with very impressive credentials, a collaborative leadership style, and an innovative outlook. He will guide us as we focus on the LEAD ON: Values on Action™ strategic plan, especially Pillar #2, Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity. Below is a message from Dr. Burch, including times and locations for informal get-togethers so you can get to know him and vice versa. I encourage you to come meet him. I think you will be as impressed as I am by his enthusiasm and vision for TCU.

Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Message from Dr. Burch
Greetings! I’ve already experienced a wonderful start to the semester at Texas Christian University, and I am happy to be a new Horned Frog. I look forward to meeting you, partnering with you, and leading us to an exciting future as an R1 university.
First, I’d like to share a few things about myself and my initial thoughts for this leadership role and TCU.
I believe in keeping “the main thing the main thing” by following what I call the three S’s.
- Strategize with faculty and leadership
- Shape opportunities for all faculty, researchers, and students
- Serve all TCU students, faculty and staff, plus our community through our important work
Together, we can widen the funnel for more opportunity and funding, and make sure we have the capability and execution to carry it out. I also realize that, as the expectations for R&D expenditures grow, so too must the bandwidth of the research office.
These are just a few ideas. I’ll be sharing more with you as I do my own research on TCU and the best way to move forward, but I’m already energized by the opportunity and talent
I’ve seen at TCU. I’ll also keep you up to date on all research-related opportunities.
Maybe the important thing to know about me is that I believe in walking in others’ shoes, especially faculty and center directors. To help me do that, I invite you to visit me for informal coffee chats. No presentations. Just getting to know each other. Below are the locations, all at 8:30 a.m. Faculty from all colleges and schools are welcome at any of the events, whichever best fits your schedule.
