Dear Academic Affairs colleagues,
I hope you had a rejuvenating summer and are as excited as I am to begin the 2025-26 semester. There are few things as cheerful as seeing our beloved campus filled with new and returning Horned Frogs. Bring on the purple pride!
With the beginning of the semester comes the beginning of announcements from me. I know how much you love these. Believe me, you will want to know about improvements to processes, such as course scheduling and faculty annual reports. I will update you on those and more in the coming days and weeks. Watch for (and pretty please read) your emails from me. If you miss a message, you can always find all of my messages and announcements on the Provost’s website under News & Communications.
To help you catch up, below is a brief update of our work over the summer.
We continued to advance process improvements, including new and improved software that will make your jobs easier. More on this in subsequent emails.
We welcomed Dr. Dwayne McCay as interim dean of the College of Science & Engineering. His 30 years of leadership experience in academia, industry and government will uphold the College of Science and Engineering as we begin the search for a new dean.
Dr. Susan Weeks was promoted to Executive Vice Provost after serving as vice provost since 2018. As EVP, she will lead Academic Affairs’ strategic initiatives and priorities to advance the goals of LEAD ON: Values in Action.
We welcomed Dr. Reuben Burch as Vice Provost for Research. I am energized by his inclusive and expansive approach to elevating our research, scholarship and creative activity. I will bring Dr. Burch to visit your colleges and schools so you can meet him in person and hear his initial thoughts about his role. Remember, he just arrived on campus and is still unpacking his boxes, so this is more about meeting, listening and sharing.
That brings us to the start of the semester. I hope to celebrate with you at the Opening Luncheon on Friday, Chancellor’s Welcome on Saturday evening, and Welcome Home Celebration on Monday.
I am proud to call TCU home and to have you as my colleagues. We serve an incredible university with an incredible mission. Thank you for your hard work, dedication and service to our students and community. Here’s to a great semester and Go Frogs!
Best wishes,
Floyd
