Announcing Dr. Ariane Balizet as the new Assistant Provost for Faculty Success

Ariane Balizet, Ph.D., will build upon and establish programming that fosters success for TCU faculty, including mentoring, promotion and tenure, reporting to Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs M. Francyne Huckaby, Ph.D. In this newly formed role, she will begin with a focus on early career faculty and faculty new to TCU and then extend to mid-career and experienced faculty. All initiatives will be informed by faculty feedback, collaborations with colleges, needs assessments, and other data.

Balizet previously was Associate Dean for Faculty and Engagement in the AddRan College of Liberal Arts. She led faculty recruitment, retention, mentoring and professional development initiatives across the college of more than 170 full-time faculty in 15 departments. She collaborated with college leadership, chairs and program directors to establish equitable policies and processes that promote faculty success throughout the academic lifecycle, including hiring, promotion, tenure, and merit review.

Notably, she developed AddRan’s New Faculty Mentoring Program, which was honored nationally by Academic Impressions as the Best New Faculty Mentorship Program 2025. The program plays a key role in faculty recruitment and retention as it supports participants to achieve promotion, tenure and leadership positions.

“Dr. Balizet is committed to faculty wellbeing, development, satisfaction and engagement. She is well-suited to lead TCU in this role, given her experience and innovative ideas for faculty achievement at AddRan,” Huckaby said. “Her leadership will be instrumental as we expand support for faculty across campus, starting with enhancing mentorship.”

“As a TCU faculty member for over 17 years, I am eager to help advance a culture of innovative and sustainable faculty success for my colleagues across TCU,” Balizet said.
