Reviewed existing policy, located issues and recommended these changes:

  • Clarify the process and timeline.
  • Change the initial year for the review of a tenured faculty member to the spring of the fifth year, instead of the sixth.
  • Clarify the guidelines and process related to the Performance Improvement Plan.
  • Clarify the role of the P&T committee given the new structure for tenure and promotion.
  • Provide a list of required materials to be included in the dossier.
  • Add post-tenure review to title of the policy.

Presented early recommendations to Provost Council.

  • Changed the initial year for the review of a tenured faculty member to the spring of the fifth year, instead of the sixth.
  • Faculty Dossier: Absent from the review is the required evidence of effective teaching.
  • Process: Submission timeline and deferral clarification.
  • Performance Improvement Plan: Clarified process, expectations for completion, appeal process.
  • Title: Added Post-Tenure Review.
  • Due Date for Draft: Draft policy due November 1, 2025, with the goal of implementation in 2026-2027.
