Core Curriculum – Director

TCU Core Curriculum Director Dr. Theresa Gaul and faculty council and committee members develop and maintain the TCU Core Curriculum and assess it regularly, working with the Faculty Senate.

Director of the Core Curriculum

Theresa Gaul
Professor of English
Director, TCU Core Curriculum

As director of the TCU Core Curriculum, Gaul reports directly to the Provost and works closely with the Faculty Senate Executive Committee to ensure the vitality and integrity of the TCU Core Curriculum. She represents the interests of the TCU Core across Academic Affairs, and coordinates with Student Affairs.

A recipient of the Deans’ Teaching Award and the Michael R. Ferrari Award for Distinguished University Service and Leadership, Dr. Gaul has taught in four areas of the Core Curriculum. She served on the Heritage, Mission, Vision and Values committee for 11 years, co-leading the first Literary Traditions assessment and leading the process to amend outcomes. She managed the curricula as past chair of the Department of English and past director of Women and Gender Studies. She has served on the Undergraduate Council, taught Study Abroad and Honors College courses, and has been e-certified to teach online since 2003.

“Dr. Gaul brings an evidence-based approach to curriculum, a demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively, and enthusiasm for the core as foundational to TCU’s mission,” Dahlberg said.
