Dear colleagues,
Last spring, the Academic Appeals Committee, chaired by Dr. Greg Friedman, provided me with suggested updates to three policies: Academic Conduct Policy; Unprofessional Behavior, Disruptive Behavior, and Lack of Academic Progress Policy; and Grade Appeal Policy.
Their suggestions were approved by University Council, myself, and the President’s Cabinet. The updated policies are in PolicyTech, accessible from the Faculty Handbook, provost.tcu.edu/faculty-resources/handbook, and the links below.
To summarize…
- The Academic Conduct Policy has been updated to include unauthorized use of artificial intelligence as a form of academic misconduct.
- The Unprofessional Behavior, Disruptive Behavior, and Lack of Academic Progress Policy has been created to combine, clarify and replace the former Disruptive Classroom Behavior and Lack of Academic Progress Policy and the Graduate Student Professional Behavior Standards.
- The preceding two policies, as well as the Grade Appeal Policy, have all been updated for clarity and consistency of the process.
I encourage you to review the updated policies to familiarize yourself with them and follow them as needed. If you have questions, contact the Academic Appeals Committee member from your unit. The members can be found here: https://chancellor.tcu.edu/university-committees/academic-appeals.
Let’s have a great semester and Go Frogs!
Best wishes,
Floyd
