Dear faculty colleagues,
Unsatisfactory (U) grades are due mid-semester, as stated in the Faculty Handbook. U grades serve as a notification that a student’s work is below C level or consistently late, they are not participating in required discussions, or they are not attending class regularly.
The Registrar will send a request for your roster this Wednesday, February 12. This is your opportunity to approve your students’ progress and provide any U grades so key stakeholders across campus can step in to help those who are not progressing satisfactorily.
Our U-grade reporting is generally about 70 percent. We want to make it 100 percent so we can make sure these students are aware of the significance of a U grade, engage them in the process to address concerns and deficits, and connect them with academic support services and campus resources as soon as possible.
Early intervention is key in determining whether or not these students will be successful at TCU. To learn more about actions TCU takes to help students with U grades, click here.
You work hard to teach, so we want to do all we can to keep our students on track and learning in your classrooms.
I thank you in advance for making this important work happen,
Floyd
