Provost FAQs re: compliance training and classroom protocols for fall

Dear Academic Affairs faculty and staff,

I trust you are enjoying your summer despite day after day of triple-digit Texas heat! This is a first for me, but I’m getting used to it.

I’d like to inform you of two things: compliance training and COVID protocols for Fall 2022.

Compliance Training

Yesterday you received an email (included below) about online, self-paced compliance training for all employees. Please note that:

  • Each of you will receive an auto-generated email from EVERFI when your individual training assignment begins. You are asked to complete your training at least 45 days from the date of your assignment. This timeframe is helpful since most faculty members are nine-month employees and are out of the office for the summer.
  • For existing employees, there are only three courses required this year, instead of the five we have completed in the past. Employees hired after April 30, 2022, will need to take five courses.
  • Although the training modules are available until April 30, 2023, we ask that you complete them in early Fall. The modules will not be available after April 30, 2023.
  • Completion is required for merit raises.

Please refer to the email if you have any questions concerning the training.

COVID Protocols

The Campus Readiness Taskforce is continuing to watch the evolution of COVID-19 and is discussing protocols for the fall. In the meantime, I want to inform you that faculty and instructional staff will have the freedom to mandate mask-wearing within your classes. If you desire to do this, please notify your students via the course syllabus and reiterate it during the first week of class, to give students the opportunity to change courses or sections if they prefer.

Continue to take care of yourselves and others,

Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
