The Koehler Center is undergoing an overhaul to better serve TCU faculty, including the addition of a Faculty Advisory Board. Part of Faculty Affairs and under the leadership of M. Francyne Huckaby, Associate Provost of Faculty Affairs, the Koehler Center has long provided professional development and support for all TCU faculty.
Huckaby engaged the Center for Public Education and Community Engagement to conduct a needs assessment to ensure that the center’s programs are responsive to faculty’s needs, engaging for diverse learners, and more in touch with emerging topics that impact university-level teaching.
“We are using the insights and suggestions from the assessment to chart a new course for the Koehler Center,” Huckaby said.
Partnering with deans, Huckaby recruited a Faculty Advisory Board with representatives from across colleges, departments, and ranks.
Koehler Center Faculty Advisory Board members are charged with:
- Guiding and supporting Koehler Center strategic planning
- Reviewing and providing feedback on services
- Attending the four advisory board meetings each semester
- Participating in at least one Koehler Center event each semester.
Full-time faculty will serve staggered three-year terms, and adjunct faculty and graduate instructors will serve one-year terms. The board held an orientation this spring and will meet four times each semester beginning Fall 2025.
“This new board will counsel us on approaches and programming that meet varying faculty needs, such as asynchronous resources, after-hours in-person sessions, virtual or hybrid sessions, expanded topics, and quick responses to evolving challenges,” Huckaby said. “I look forward to their contributions.”
