Academic Affairs Priorities
The Office of the Provost works to advance TCU’s mission via initiatives developed to deliver excellence in teaching, learning, research and creative works. Guided by TCU’s four core values – Integrity, Engagement, Community and Excellence – the Office of the Provost is committed to the goals outlined in the Lead On: Values in Action strategic plan.
In collaboration with our colleagues across the university, the priority areas outlined below will lead to TCU being “The University of Fort Worth,” a top private institution with a national reputation for best-in-class student experience, scholarly impact and the most competitive athletics.
Academic Excellence and Program Eminence
TCU’s academically rigorous curriculum and student-focused programs provide an elite-level education that equips our students with the tools and experiences required to achieve and excel in their personal and professional goals. We are committed to sustaining current and developing new innovative academic and experiential learning opportunities to advance the academic and career preparedness of our students. We continually review and improve our academic programs to assure that they are destination programs of study.
Faculty Distinction and Scholarship
The Office of the Provost invests in initiatives that significantly enhance the impact of our faculty’s research, scholarship and creative activities. We highlight faculty when they receive local, national and global honors to provide deserved distinction and significantly increase TCU’s profile and reputation as a premier institution for research, scholarship and creative activities. Strategically investing in our research infrastructure brings distinction to our faculty, enhances our students’ experience and readiness to enter the workforce, and elevates TCU’s ability to compete for top faculty, staff and student talent.
Student Success and Experience
We are committed to providing every TCU student with an elite-level education and equipping them with the tools and experiences necessary to achieve their personal and professional goals. To assure access, belonging and accountability—and uphold TCU’s reputation as a personal, connected community—we endorse faculty-student interaction in all areas of scholarship and creative activity, and support impactful learning, experiential and professional development opportunities that are open to all students at every stage during their educational journey.
Career and Professional Development
The Office of the Provost champions initiatives that facilitate the success of our people and community. We invest in programs and services tailored to meet the needs of our faculty and staff at multiple stages of their development and career. We welcome new faculty and staff with orientation, facilitate faculty mentor and career development programs, and provide leadership training opportunities. We believe that these actions keep all of us at the top of our field of expertise, open the doors to new opportunities, and enhance our service to our students and community.
