Credit Hour Residency Requirement Implementation Committee
In the fall of 2024, the University Council approved a recommendation to lower TCU’s credit hour residency requirements for upper-division course requirements in residence, from 42 to 36 credit hours, and residency requirements ,from 58 to 45 credit hours. The Provost formed a Credit Hour Residency Implementation Committee on representatives from each college/school to implement the change while ensuring TCU’s adherence to curricular, accreditation and licensure requirements for all academic programs in each college/school.
CHARGE
Support the effective and timely (by Fall 2025) implementation of the new (lowered) transfer student credit hour residency requirement – adjusted upper-division course requirements in residence from 42 to 36 credit hours, and residency requirements from 58 to 45 credit hours – while ensuring TCU’s adherence to curricular, accreditation and licensure requirements for all academic programs in each college/school.
TIMELINE
Credit hour residency requirements changed in Fall 2024 per approval of the University Council and follow-up discussions with the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, Faculty Relations Committee, and Academic Excellence Committee. The committee will meet throughout Spring 2025 with plans to implement the new requirements in Fall 2025.
