Message from the Provost – Leadership Transition

Dear Academic Affairs Colleagues,

By now you know the news that one of us (Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg) is leaving TCU in May to become president of the University of Tampa, and one of us (Floyd L. Wormley Jr.) is assuming leadership as interim provost as of January 1. You probably have many questions, so we aim to answer them here.

During January, Provost Dahlberg is meeting with direct reports and facilitating standing meetings. By February, Interim Provost Wormley will take the lead and Provost Dahlberg will provide support for Academic Affairs. He will office both in the Provost Suite and in his current office in Research and Graduate Studies. She will remain in her Provost Suite office.

Emails to the provost should be directed to Interim Provost Wormley, copying Provost Dahlberg when appropriate or desired.  Executive Assistant Teresa Hiner is managing calendars and providing support for both this semester.

“I am honored to work alongside Provost Dahlberg to lead Academic Affairs through this important transition for the university, relying on an incredible team and my experience as vice provost of research and dean of graduate studies to assure continuity, diligence and excellence within Academic Affairs at TCU.” – Interim Provost Wormley

“Dr. Wormley has my full support to assist him in onboarding to this leadership position and moving forward. I know Academic Affairs is in excellent hands under his guidance. It has been an honor to work at TCU alongside exceptional leaders, faculty, staff and students. I am proud of the successes we have accomplished together. I know that TCU will continue to flourish and be a beacon of higher education excellence.” – Provost Dahlberg

Please join us for the next Coffee Chat with the Provosts, Wednesday, January 31, 9:00-10:30 a.m., in the lounge at Sadler Hall, Room 302. We look forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes for a favorable 2024,

Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg
Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs

Floyd L. Wormley Jr.
Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Vice Provost for Research
Dean of Graduate Studies

P.S.  The weather is predicted to get extremely cold just as we begin the semester on Tuesday. Stay safe and watch for updates about potential closing via TCU Alert. Refer to Academic Affairs FAQs about inclement weather procedures for faculty.
