Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg, provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs at Texas Christian University, has appointed Floyd L. Wormley, Jr., Ph.D., associate provost for Research and dean of Graduate Studies for Texas Christian University. He will begin his tenure June 30, 2019.
Dr. Wormley previously served as associate dean for Research and Graduate Studies, College of Sciences; associate program director, UTSA Research Centers in Minority Institutions Program; and interim chair, Department of Physics & Astronomy, all at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Wormley’s administrative track record of success includes the facilitation and development of new graduate degree and certificate programs and coordinating efforts for awarding graduate scholarships, as well as the generation of more than $28 million in new research awards during the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
Dr. Wormley is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, a Fulbright Scholar and a Fellow for the American Academy of Microbiology within the American Society for Microbiology.
As associate provost and dean, Dr. Wormley will work with academic deans and faculty to strengthen the infrastructure supporting research and creative activities as well as graduate programs across all disciplines at TCU. He will enhance our support of graduate students and our engagement of undergraduate researchers and magnify the impact of research and graduate programs on our mission of teaching and scholarship.

Dr. Wormley earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University and both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Subsequently, he completed postdoctoral training at the Duke University Medical Center and later joined UTSA, where he served as assistant, associate and full professor within the Department of Biology before being appointed associate dean for Research and Graduate Studies within the College of Sciences and later, an additional appointment as interim chair of Physics & Astronomy.
