Announcing Annual Wintersessions at TCU

TCU will now offer a Wintersession annually, beginning this December, due to the success of the intersession offered during the pandemic and again in 2022 as part of a small pilot group, which have proven to be beneficial to students’ progression toward graduation.

Registrar 2023-24 Wintersession Dates

Dec. 18, 2023 – Jan. 12, 2024, 4-weeks
Dec. 18 – 29, 2023, 2-week Session 1
Jan. 2 – 12, 2024, 2-week Session 2

All classes will be synchronous online only, delivered by faculty who are e-certified. Classes require a minimum of 8 students. Students are limited to 4 hours total enrollment. Registration for the Wintersession will run concurrently with Spring 2024 registration. Need-based financial aid is available for those who qualify.

FACULTY: The deadline to submit recommendations for courses to your Dean is October 1. You must be eFaculty 2.0 certified prior to October 1. Your dean has a list of all who are currently certified. If you are not yet certified and are interested in teaching a Wintersession class, eFaculty 2.0 is offered self-paced online here: cte.tcu.edu/programs/efaculty-2-0.

Courses should focus on those that most benefit students’ path to graduation, especially courses that:

  • meet one or more core requirements.
  • have high drop/fail/withdraw rates.
  • are in high demand and required for majors.
  • are immediately needed for academic progression/graduation.
  • are gateway courses required to declare a major of choice.
  • have high interest from students across majors or are high-demand courses with minimal if any prerequisites.
  • are requested by a significant number of students

Information to students is forthcoming.
