Student Progression Ad Hoc Committee

Student Progression Ad Hoc Committee

To facilitate the academic progression of all students and particularly transfer students, the Provost convened an ad hoc committee chaired by the Associate Vice Provost for Student Success to consider and make proposals that would remove barriers for our students, thereby better advancing their academic progression to degree completion at TCU while maintaining the integrity of a TCU degree.

As a result of the committee’s work, the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Affairs brought three proposals to the Undergraduate Council and Faculty Senate for their review so that all TCU students, regardless of their identity contingencies across social class, race, ethnicity, gender, and other categories, might enjoy equitable pathways to degree completion. Faculty Senate formed an ad hoc committee composed of eight members representing each of TCU’s colleges and schools, who surveyed the faculty of their respective colleges to review, vote, and either endorse or reject each of the three proposals. The survey resulted in 140 faculty members responding and one proposal approved. The Senate’s ad hoc committee submitted that proposal at the meeting in April 2023. That proposal, allowing for double counting of up to 6 credits between programs, passed at Undergraduate Council and University Council.
