Provost announces Dr. Karen Steele as the inaugural associate vice provost

Photo of Dr. Karen SteeleProvost Donovan is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Karen Steele as the inaugural associate vice provost for interdisciplinary studies. She brings to this new position considerable experience in academic leadership as a former director of Women’s Studies, chair of the English Department, and co-chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Dr. Steele has built a distinguished, international reputation in the interdisciplinary field of Irish studies, with significant scholarship on gender and Irish media history. Her teaching, which has earned multiple recognitions, impacts students at every level of the curriculum. In recommending Dr. Steele for this new position, the selection committee highlighted Dr. Steele’s global, inclusive vision, her varied accomplishments in administration, and her broad-ranging work in advancing TCU’s diversity agenda. As an academic leader who has worked collaboratively to solve complex, ambiguous challenges on our campus, she will be an important architect in TCU’s restructuring over the years to come.
